I believe community service makes our world a better place. The needs we fulfill and roles we play often depend on where we are needed most. My latest project was called “HALOs for Haiti’s Littlest Angels.” This was an effort to raise funds for an orphanage in Haiti called God’s Littlest Angels. You can learn more about that here.
I currently serve as publicity chair and secretary for Boy Scouts Troop 316 in Apex, N.C. I am also the Turner Creek Elementary representative and secretary for Wake County Public School System’s District 8 Board Advisory Council. I am a member of Lufkin Road Middle School’s PTA board and newsletter editor for the school’s monthly newsletter. I also volunteer my publicity services to write press releases for PAGE, Partners for the Advancement of Gifted Education, as well as various non-profit organizations.
One of the most moving community service needs I help fulfill is to serve as a Caregiver through my church, St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Apex. Caregivers prepare meals when a family faces illness or death. These families experience so many difficulties and have so many emotions to heal, that having a hot meal delivered to them makes everything a little easier.
